The Legal and Governance Division (Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF)) and the Portfolio Strategy Division (Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW)) work across the portfolio and with external stakeholders to foster a coordinated approach to portfolio priorities and support the department's work. We deliver advice, coordination and support services to our portfolio ministers and their offices, the executive and the department. Our work includes parliamentary business, ministerial support, portfolio-related government appointments, strategic policy, and international strategy and engagements. As an enabling division, our operating environment will be impacted by the broad trends affecting the portfolio.
The Ministerial Liaison and Governance Branches are responsible for managing the workflow between the department and the responsible portfolio ministers, as well as providing them with practical support arrangements. A key deliverable is to establish and maintain strong relationships between ministers and their offices, the senior executive and the broader department.
The successful applicants will be part of a busy team with a strong client service focus to deliver high quality, responsive parliamentary business services for the portfolio ministers, the executive and coordination across the broader department.
We are seeking experienced ministerial and parliamentary officers who have skills in a range of areas and can carry out duties such as :
Knowledge of parliamentary processes, systems and operations and substantial experience in a Ministerial or Parliamentary team are highly desirable.
