The National Category Manager – Equipment & Maintenance Role

Working with a motivated procurement team at our Sydney office, you will be responsible for developing and implementing national sourcing and contract management strategies for high spend / high risk equipment and maintenance categories. This includes consolidating demand across all regions, establishing and tracking KPIs, conducting market research, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies.

Engage regularly with key stakeholders, including the National Procurement Manager, Australian Procurement team, Australian Operations, and external suppliers, providing a high level of customer service to keep them happy throughout the procurement process.

Use alternate sourcing strategies to find the best solutions for our business, including exploring Best Cost Country Sourcing opportunities through Heidelberg Materials’ Global and Asia‑Pacific Procurement functions.

What You Need To Be Successful

• Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills, capable of dealing with all levels of the organisation.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in Procurement or operations‑related functions.
• Proven negotiation skills, especially in sourcing equipment and spares.
• Amazing communication skills – both written and verbal.
• Enjoy a laugh at work but still get the job done.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Strong rapport building skills, including remote video conferencing.
• Exemplary customer service, relationship building, influencing, consulting, and advisory skills.
• Strong proficiency in data analysis, market benchmarking, and decision‑making.
• High level of accountability, resilience, autonomy, and ability to lead initiatives.
