About The Role

This is a part‑time fixed‑term position (14 hours per fortnight) within the Department of Adolescent Medicine, beginning 5 Jan 2026 and concluding 2 Jan 2028. The role is a secondment backfill for 14 hours per fortnight, with Wednesday as the required working day due to mandatory meetings and clinic room allocation. Responsibilities include providing evidence‑based care to young people in inpatient and outpatient settings, leading and training junior medical staff, nursing and allied health staff, conducting weekly outpatient clinics, managing on‑call responsibilities and providing second‑on‑call support for the Adolescent Medicine Fellows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly adolescent medicine outpatient clinics.
  • Execute medical and psychosocial assessments and manage care for adolescents and their families.
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date patient medical information and records, including diagnoses, treatment plans and complications.
  • Manage inpatients admitted under Adolescent Medicine and provide second‑on‑call supervision when the Fellows are on ward service.
  • Foster the development of adolescent medicine as a career path for medical students and paediatric trainees.

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA.
  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • Fellowship qualifications with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent.
  • Provider number with Medicare and ABN to bill for clinical activity.
  • Other Requirements

  • Current National Criminal Record Check or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid Working with Children Check.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain.
  • Compliance with RCH’s “Staff Immunisation – Prevention of Vaccine‑Preventable Diseases” procedure.
