Overview

Illawarra Vocational Services (IVS) provides meaningful employment for people with disability by offering a range of garden maintenance and packaging services in the local Illawarra area.

We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Supervisor of Operations and Maintenance to lead and support a crew of supported employees at IVS. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys mentoring others, and has proficiency for equipment maintenance and operational coordination.

This full-time position is a perfect opportunity in maintaining work-life balance, working 7 : 15am to 2 : 45pm across various sites in our Illawarra region.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train supported employees to complete job assignments safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct risk assessments, allocate tasks, and tailor support to individual abilities and goals.
  • Oversee the maintenance of IVS equipment and vehicles, ensuring safety and functionality.
  • Provide operational support to the Team Leader, IVS Operations, and step into the Team Leader role when required.
  • Uphold IVS’s community profile through excellent customer service and professionalism.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and internal policies.
  • Complete daily reports and administrative tasks to a high standard.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability and experience with horticultural equipment
  • Commitment to supporting people with disability in meaningful employment.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience in commercial / residential mowing or garden maintenance.
  • Understanding of disability, mental health, and complex support needs.
  • Ability to identify productivity improvements and maintain high work standards.
