Position Profile and Role :

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is seeking to appoint experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists who can provide leadership, supervision and high-level specialized care to our infants, children and young people

You will be responsible in partnership with the manager, for the delivery of quality patient care within their specialty. You will supervise the delivery of quality patient care, through developing standards of practice, implementing changes to clinical practice, staff education and initiating research and quality improvement activities. You will provide a consultation service within your area of expertise and work collaboratively to improve the quality of patient care and promote desired outcomes in the patient population, which includes patients with complex needs, within the inpatient, outpatient and community setting.

What you will be doing :

  • Practicing and promoting safe, efficient and effective nursing care for young people experiencing mental health problems that reflect current National practice standards for mental health, current standards of nursing practices and current Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service policies and procedures.

  • About Directorate :

    Clinical Nurse positions are available in the below directorates :

    Community CAMHS offers mental health assessment and multidisciplinary intervention for children and young people up to the age of 18 years. Young people experiencing mental health difficulties may access support through friends and family and / or services, such as their GP, school nurse / psychologist / counsellor or a private psychologist (with support from their GP through a Mental Health Care Plan), headspace or other services.

    The Specialist Services and Day Programs consists of Complex Attention and Hyperactivity Disorder Service, Multisystemic Therapy, Pathways and Touchstone. These programs support children and young people who have complex mental health needs.

    Acute CAMHS, based at Perth Children’s Hospital has a mental health inpatient unit (Ward 5A), Paediatric Consultation Liaison, Eating Disorder Service and Gender Diversity Service.

    The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offers support, advice and treatment to young people and their families who are experiencing mental health issues. Children and families are referred to Mental Health by their treating therapist, specialist, GP, School or other community organisation. CAMHS provides recovery-focused programs, and services for children from birth up until a person turns 18 years old. We are in the community and in hospital. Families may receive services from one or more of these areas.
