Job location
Forensicare provides specialist forensic mental health services across 12 of Victoria’s 14 prisons with expansion underway to include Western Plains in the Barwon region. This position based at Ravenhall Correctional Centre in Melbourne's west, provides 75 prison-based custodial mental health beds as well as assessments and outpatient services provided in maximum-security forensic mental health complex within the medium-security prison.
About the Role
The Social Worker is responsible for the ongoing development and planning of social work services to achieve and maintain a high standard of consumer care, recognising their individual needs, as well as those of their families and carers, consistent with the Forensicare Model of Care.
The position is required to complete psychosocial assessments, contribute to care planning, and provide direct and indirect interventions, as well as educate and consult with members of the multidisciplinary team regarding social and systemic issues, and advocating for consumers’ rights and entitlements.
The position contributes to service development and research projects and, commensurate with experience levels, may provide clinical supervision and support to social work students and graduates.
Duties
- Deliver high quality social work services to consumers consistent with the Forensicare Model of Care.
- Provide consultation and advice to members of the multi-disciplinary team on social work and related issues.
- Demonstrate highly developed psychosocial assessment skills and the ability to convey assessments to the multidisciplinary team.
- Undertake structured family assessments, examining support structures and need for psychosocial or legal education and referral to services.
- Undertake structured risk and need assessments and develop risk and need management plans in collaboration with the consumer and multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of specialist education and consultancy services to consumers, families, carers and targeted community groups and services.
- Provide and participate in the training and clinical supervision of Grade 1 Social Workers and social work students on placement.
About You
Substantial post-qualifying social work practice experience.Ability to deliver ethical and effective social work services in a statutory practice environment.Demonstrated understanding of risk and recovery principles in forensic mental health.Proven skills and experience in developing and implementing complex case plans, involving direct and indirect social work practice.What you need
