In your role as a Product & Systems Manager, you will use your knowledge and skills to understand, believe and support IDE in carrying out its “Why”.
You will do this by :
- Inventing and creating new products, and new product opportunities
- Leading the performance of product development and product realisation activities in projects they engage in, creating successful outcomes that meaningful MedTech ventures can be created around
- Managing, coordinating and integrating multidisciplinary technical resources and outputs in project teams through all stages of a project, to a high degree of technical excellence, to produce commercially successful results.
The Product and Systems Manager takes the role of Product Lead in IDE product development projects. The Product Lead is responsible for providing technical vision for the product and leading the technical team to execute the project. The Product Lead works with the Project Lead to ensure we create valuable ventures, products and services by balancing quality, time and budget.
The Product and Systems Manager works with the Business Unit Director to ensure the Business Unit and project teams have the technical capabilities and resources required to execute planned product development projects.
Product Leadership – Work with the Business Unit Director and Client to challenge the brief and identify valuable problems / solutions. Lead technical resources (Designers, Engineers and other specialties) to complete activities (value proposition design, concepting, detailed design, V / V) that create valuable new ventures, products and services.Project Planning – Work with the project lead to define solutions that are desirable / feasible / viable in the context of the venture. Assist the project lead to plan and estimate the project by giving input to the required activities and resources to achieve the project aim.Technical Execution - Selects or modifies the most appropriate processes and methods to apply in PD activities. Defines the appropriate level of quality for PD Outputs and Outcomes and ensures it is achieved.Risk Management – Identifies and manages Product Risks appropriately, with effective controls implemented. Provide input to the Project Lead to identify and manage project risk.Review and Approvals – Ensure effective Technical Reviews for PD activities are conducted as planned. Coordinates and conducts effective System Level Design Reviews.Mentor and coach others.Qualifications & Experience
A degree in one or more of the following : Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Graphics design, UI / UX design, Software Engineering or similar applicable technical discipline.8+ years of experience working in product design and development, including track record of inventing / creating or leading the invention / creation of new technologies and products.Experience developing products and managing teams (three or more) of technical resources through all stages of the product development process, from concept through to production.Experience in managing, directing, and reviewing outputs from technical personnel of various disciplines in a cross-disciplinary team.Significant demonstrated understanding of Medical Device Development process and Quality Management Systems ISO 13485, or similar.Significant demonstrated understanding of product development processes, methodologies, and practices e.g. design thinking, agile development, design controls.Significant demonstrated understanding of one or more key international standards IEC 62304 Software Development, IEC 62366 Human Factors, ISO 14971 Risk Management and ISO 60601 Medical Electrical Equipment Safety.The Benefits
