About the Role

The Principal Global Transfer Pricing (GTP) manages the tax positions and tax risk relating to transfer pricing matters for Australia and other allocated transfer pricing matters across the global group.  This role can be based in any of our office locations to include Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide or Melbourne!

Reporting to the Head of Global Transfer Pricing the successful candidate will be required to :

  • Have an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development

  • Proactively identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives within work area
  • Co-ordinate and review the development of tax positions and advice that are accurate and optimally beneficial to the Group
  • Apply the Tax Risk Standard when considering tax matters and determining the best approach to manage the risk associated with those matters
  • Make a strong contribution to Group Tax’s knowledge and understanding of practical and technical tax areas relevant to transfer pricing and emerging TP and relevant international tax issues
  • Assess and identify priority work to be done and develop work plan to complete work
  • Prepare timely responses to allocated tax regulatory requests in accordance with Group Tax standards and protocols
  • Review contracts and commercial proposals and make evidence-based and risk-managed recommendations and decisions
  • Analyse new tax legislation and other tax developments / announcements and provide analysis and recommendations to stakeholders / customers both within Group Tax and outside of Group Tax
  • Simplify and, where possible, automate TP processes documentation and reporting and other relevant work processes
  • Monitor and review TP developments (including OECD and for specific countries) and assist in developing BHP positions for submission or distribution

About You

  • Significant experience with corporate income tax across compliance, provisioning and advice. This should be delivered in a highly complex multinational business and / or professional services firm
  • Deep transfer pricing experience across multiple jurisdictions (including OECD framework and arm’s length principles)
  • Experience in implementing tax processes and projects, including transactions, systems and processes
  • Experience in delivering tax advice for an international tax function
  • Tax experience in resources industry, Treasury functions and products and intragroup services and charges
  • In-house experience in a multinational listed corporate group
  • CA / CPA / Legal practicing certificate
  • Sound knowledge of relevant jurisdictional corporate tax rules / regulations and relevant accounting rules / regulations
  • Ability to effectively evaluate tax risks / benefits and provide sound business advice
  • High level MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
