Full‑time role at the City of Boroondara, based at the Freeway Golf Course Depot – BALWYN NORTH.

Salary $71,312 – $76,789 (excl Super) + 9 Day Fortnight.

The Role

We’re looking for a Turf Maintenance Officer to join our Environmental Sustainability and Open Spaces team. This role is responsible for the day‑to‑day care and maintenance of Boroondara’s 54 sportsgrounds. You’ll be based at the Freeway Golf Course Depot but will work across a range of sites to support the delivery of high‑quality turf services for our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Mow, apply herbicides and fertiliser, repair irrigation, conduct safety audits and support reconstruction works.
• Support seasonal renovations, undertake tractor operations and assist with wicket preparation where required.
• Participate in toolbox meetings, report hazards and contribute to a strong safety‑first culture.
• Maintain accurate recordkeeping and ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.

About You

We’re looking for someone who holds a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management, with demonstrated hands‑on experience in the maintenance of sportsgrounds or similar turf surfaces. You’ll have a sound understanding of turf health, irrigation systems and the safe use of turf‑related machinery and chemicals. A current driver’s licence is required, and experience in wicket curation or working within local government would be a bonus.
