Head of Employee Relations & Workplace Compliance

Australia & New Zealand | Executive Leadership Role

Shape the future of workplace compliance and employee relations across two countries.

At UP Education, we’re on a mission to deliver transformative education experiences across Australia and New Zealand. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking a Head of Employee Relations & Workplace Compliance — a senior leader who can set the standard for compliance excellence while enabling our business to thrive.

The Opportunity

This is not just a compliance role. You will be the trusted advisor and escalation point for our leaders, ensuring our organisation operates with integrity and consistency under the Fair Work Act (AU), Employment Relations Act (NZ), NES, Modern Awards, and other key legislation . Beyond governance, you will drive proactive strategies, anticipate sector shifts, and guide our leadership team with clear, pragmatic advice.

What You’ll Lead

  • Employee Relations & Case Management : Take charge of the most complex ER matters across AU & NZ — from investigations to performance management — while coaching and developing our ER team.
  • Compliance & Risk : Partner with HR, Recruitment, and Payroll to ensure compliant systems, conduct audits, and lead compliance workstreams in acquisitions and integrations.
  • Policy, Capability & Systems : Build practical frameworks, policies, and manager toolkits that enable confident decision-making across the business.
  • Forward Thinking & Engagement : Monitor legislation, engage with regulators and industry networks, and provide the Executive with foresight on workforce implications and compliance risks.

What You’ll Bring

  • Deep knowledge of Australian employment law, NES, and Modern Awards — with solid working knowledge of New Zealand frameworks.
  • A track record of leading complex ER cases and coaching others to grow capability.
  • The ability to balance compliance with commercial pragmatism, enabling smart and fair business outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
  • A future-focused mindset, with active industry engagement and awareness of sector trends.
  • Why Join Us?

At UP Education, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a compliant, fair, and future-ready workplace culture across two countries. You’ll work at the heart of a values-driven organisation that is committed to its people and its students — and you’ll have the platform to make a lasting impact at executive level.
