About the role

The Payroll Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the timely payment of approximately 3,200 VMCH employees on a fortnightly basis, leading a team of five Payroll Officers in relation to day-to-day operations and providing specialist payroll advice to VMCH employees.

Some of the responsibilities of the role include :

  • Assisting Payroll Officers with any enquiries or issues that need to be escalated
  • Maintaining the payroll system
  • Updating employee records
  • Calculating and processing terminations, variations, salary increases and back pays
  • Preparing superannuation and work cover deductions
  • Processing salary packaging through our external provider

About you

You have extensive end-to-end payroll experience within a large, complex, multi-site organisation and the ability to lead a high-performing team.

In addition, you possess the following :

  • Understanding of payroll legislation and processes
  • Ability to interpret Enterprise Agreements, Awards and relevant legislation
  • Experience with payroll and time and attendance systems – we use Preceda and Emplive
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
