Herbs of Gold was born in 1989, focusing on promoting health and well‑being throughout all of Australia. For over 30 years, we have been devoted to producing a 'gold standard' range of therapeutic herbal and nutritional supplements to nourish Australians with quality products. Our range today includes over 100 herbal, vitamin, mineral, nutrient formulations. Herbs of Gold has a team of highly qualified experienced naturopaths, herbalists and nutritionists that focus on developing products to suit people of all ages, life stages and personal preferences. We pride ourselves on our strong vegan-friendly range that is low allergy and free from artificial colours, flavours, and sweeteners.

About the role

We are on the search for a field based Business Development Manager to join our strong performing sales team. Reporting to the National Field Sales Manager, this role primarily manages and services our Melbourne North territory. They will work collaboratively with all our internal teams and be responsible for achieving or exceeding sales targets across different channels. They will utilise tools and resources to achieve strategic territory planning and execute against goals. They will be a strong ambassador of our product and build deep and lasting relationships with our customers. This role requires a passion for health and wellness, a willingness to deliver effective in‑store training and education, and the ability to translate brand objectives into product lifecycle and create compelling narratives.

Responsibilities

  • Sales performance, including channel target achievement, new product launch targets, and improving territory profitability
  • Strategic territory planning, including maximising growth through segmentation and analysing sales and opportunity data
  • Customer planning, including business reviews, delivering on education and training needs, regular appointment objectives and follow‑up
  • Customer service, including confidently holding commercial conversations using market data and technical information, along with the ability to understand customer concerns and navigate difficult situations in a positive manner
  • Data & reporting, including providing quality commentary regarding sales calls and completion of monthly and ad hoc reporting requirements
  • Category management, including implementation of effective range displays and shelf space, ideation for off‑location activations, awareness of competitor movement

About you

Our ideal candidate will be a professional with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within the health, pharmaceutical, or complementary medicine sector. They will have a proven track record in delivering to sales targets, and the ability to influence stakeholders across our business and in their customer group. Possessing a growth mindset and an adaptable and collaborative approach to working, they will be a strategic thinker who is comfortable working in a small team in a hands‑on role. Ideally you will be keen to start a lasting career in this space, enjoy working out in the field every day, and have :

  • Qualifications in the Natural Medicine field and / or strong product knowledge of our product portfolio and the natural health space
  • Existing relationships with retailers in the Pharmacy and Health Food channel
  • Strong initiative and personal drive to succeed
  • Excellent time management and effective prioritisation
  • High level written and verbal communication
