Position Overview :
As a Speech Therapist, you will provide speech pathology services to individuals with a range of communication and swallowing disorders. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating clients across various settings, including schools, homes, and clinical environments. You will work as part of a dynamic team, supporting clients in achieving their communication goals and improving their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments for clients of all ages.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on client needs.
- Provide direct therapy and interventions for speech and language disorders, including voice, fluency, articulation, and language development.
- Work with clients on swallowing and feeding issues.
- Educate and support families and caregivers on strategies to promote speech and language development at home.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and psychologists, to provide holistic care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and documentation.
- Provide regular progress reports and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Support clients with disabilities or special needs to improve communication and social interaction.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in speech therapy.
Key Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology (or equivalent qualification).Full registration with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent (or ability to obtain).Proven experience in assessing and treating a wide range of speech, language, and swallowing disorders.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.Compassionate, patient, and client-focused approach to care.Excellent time management and organizational skills.Experience in pediatric and / or adult therapy is an advantage.Experience with telehealth service delivery (optional).A current driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (for home visits if required).Preferred Qualifications :
Postgraduate qualifications in a specialized area (e.g., pediatric speech therapy, dysphagia, etc.) are highly regarded.Experience working in a rural or remote area.Ability to work with Indigenous populations is desirable.Seniority level
