Cook (Vocational Instructor)
Location : Grafton, NSW
Type : Temporary, full‑time, up to 6 months
Salary : Level 1 – 2 : $71,777 – $82,329 pa, plus employer superannuation contribution and annual leave loading.
About the Role
Order, store, produce and distribute nutritious meals for young people and frontline staff in an efficient manner. Compliance with HACCP Australia and Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards and guidelines is required.
Responsibilities
- Inspect kitchen equipment and premises to ensure safety and hygiene, complying with WHS and HACCP standards.
- Maintain kitchen and equipment, organising repairs of ovens, hotplates, grills and similar items.
- Plan menus, estimate and order fresh food supplies, and prepare a variety of hot and cold meals (breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner) incorporating cultural and dietary needs.
- Monitor food quality throughout preparation and presentation.
- Store perishable and non‑perishable items safely, maintaining temperature controls and HACCP documentation.
- Ensure correct personal protective equipment is worn at all times.
- Develop, design, deliver and evaluate a vocational training program for detainees.
- Supervise, control and discipline detainees during vocational programmes, ensuring equipment safety and staff wellbeing.
Qualifications
Relevant experience as a cook and vocational instructor (Level 1, Years 1‑2).Trade or equivalent qualifications in cooking; HACCP or Food Safety Supervisor Certificate preferred.Current NSW Working with Children Check clearance.Current First Aid (HLTAID0011) or equivalent.Weekend work available.Possession of National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with Disability Inclusion Act 2014 (if required).Benefits
