What to expect : Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the transition to a world of sustainable abundance. Megapack is Tesla’s utility-scale energy storage product, which requires a new approach to operations and dispatch. Tesla has developed in-house software solutions, including Autobidder for wholesale markets. We are seeking a sales professional to drive the deployment of Tesla’s industrial energy software platforms across the APAC region. Day-to-day responsibilities include educating customers, leading sales discussions, contracting, product development, and developing novel commercial structures and strategies. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the energy industry, wholesale market participation, energy storage dispatch, financial and commercial experience, technical sales, and strong contracting skills. Prior experience with energy asset optimization and wholesale energy sales is strongly preferred. This position is open to applicants based in Sydney or Melbourne.
What You'll Do
- Educate customers on the benefits of Tesla’s energy optimization software and services
- Leverage Sales team relationships with independent power producers, developers, and utilities to build a pipeline of short-, medium-, and long-term software opportunities spanning multiple countries
- Achieve sales targets and lead negotiation and contracting of energy optimization services agreements, including complex financial structures such as revenue guarantees
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define scope, terms, and pricing (including complex financial structures) for Tesla’s energy optimization services while meeting customers’ needs and protecting Tesla’s interests
- Identify opportunities to continuously optimize Tesla’s long-term financial agreements and obligations through market engagement
- Contribute to strategy and preparation of tender responses, in collaboration with Tesla’s Megapack Sales team
- Maintain quality pipeline data and provide reporting to management as needed
What You'll Bring
4-5 years minimum work experience in the energy industry; experience in sales or business development (customer-facing)Knowledge of battery systems and / or electricity markets; experience with battery optimization software and / or services is strongly preferredHands-on contract negotiation and execution experience, particularly for complex financial offersAnalytical / quantitative skills regarding complex price models, storage / renewable project economics, techno-economic optimizations, quantitative risk analysis, and understanding the fundamentals of project finance modelsAbility to effectively communicate technical concepts and analytical results to clients and internal stakeholdersFluency in English, both written and spokenExperience managing cross-functional projects in fast-paced, dynamic settingsDeep passion for accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energyStrong Excel skillsSeniority level
