About the Role
This isn’t a desk-only role. You’ll be out in the field in Shelters, Clinics, and Op Shops supporting teams where it matters most. You’ll lead the development and execution of our HSW systems, manage incidents and return-to-work processes, and help build a strong, engaged safety culture. You will work as part of our People and Culture Team with a part-time HSW Coordinator dedicated to providing support.
Key Responsibilities
Be Visible & Supportive : Work directly with staff and volunteers across all sites. Listen, observe, and provide real-time guidance on safe work practices.Incident Management : Own the incident reporting and investigation process, follow through with corrective actions, and manage workers compensation and return-to-work plans.Legislative Compliance : Keep our HSW systems aligned with legislation and best practices, and liaise with WorkSafe Victoria as needed.Drive Safety Culture : Engage the team in safety conversations, hazard identification, and practical risk management - not just paperwork.Turn Data into Action : Analyse safety and wellbeing data to identify trends, flag concerns, and drive continuous improvement.About You
You're not just technically strong - you're approachable, grounded, and know how to connect with people. Whether it's in a meeting room or out in the kennels, you know how to make safety relevant and real.
You bring
Strong understanding of WHS&W legislation, regulations and best practicesExperience working closely with frontline teams in dynamic environmentsA practical, hands-on approach to safety - you're not afraid to get your boots dirtyProven ability to develop and deliver strategies that make a real differenceExcellent communication skills and the ability to build trust across all levelsEssential Requirements
A current valid Victorian Driver’s LicenceCertificate IV in Work Health & Safety and Return to Work Certification (highly regarded)Why RSPCA Victoria?
