The Opportunity

OES is seeking an Academic Program Director to lead the academic and quality oversight of our Swinburne Online (SOL) Higher Education programs. The role is responsible for the development and implementation of program delivery and student experience strategies for SOL in keeping with OES's position as the pioneer of quality online education in the Australian higher education industry. This role will shape strategic initiatives that improve program delivery and student outcomes with consideration for commercial sustainability, global best practice, and employee engagement. This is not a typical academic leadership role; we are looking for someone who embraces innovation and brings a commercial mindset to education.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive academic excellence across a diverse portfolio of programs, ensuring they exceed accreditation standards and student expectations.
  • Drive evidence-based innovation strategies as a member of OES’s Teaching and Learning Committee.
  • Collaborate closely with our Academic Team and SOL Director to deliver transformative student experiences.
  • Engage confidently with senior university stakeholders on a breadth of matters including academic quality, student experience, portfolio growth plans and digital transformation.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing academic team, fostering a culture of student-centricity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with teams from across the business to ensure continuous improvement of the student experience.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify growth opportunities and shape the future of our academic offerings.

About You

  • A strategic thinker with a proactive and evidence-based approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable navigating risk and ambiguity; you won’t be replicating traditional university models.
  • Experienced in academic governance and accreditation, ideally within HE or VET sectors.
  • Commercially savvy, with the potential to step into broader leadership roles.
  • A confident communicator who can build trust and influence at all levels.
  • Passionate about diversity, inclusion, and creating a psychologically safe team environment.
  • Tech-aware and agile in your approach to leadership and learning.
  • Believes in the transformative power of education, especially for non-traditional cohorts.
