The opportunity
If you're looking to start a rewarding career in the marine industry, Oceanwater Marine has an exciting opportunity for a T / A Position with a pathway to Apprentice Marine Mechanic. Based in the beautiful coastal town of Mandurah, WA, this casual to full-time role will see you working on a variety of marine engines and systems, learning from experienced professionals and developing the skills to become a qualified Marine Mechanic.
What We’re Looking For
Reliable and hands-onPhysically fit and flexible — this is a physically demanding roleMechanical work experience through TAFE and / or workshop placementWillingness to learn new skills and grow within the roleStrong team player with a positive attitudeKey Responsibilities
Assist with servicing, maintenance, and repairs on outboard marine enginesPerform routine inspections, diagnose mechanical issues, and support troubleshootingHelp prepare vessels and engines for testing and commissioningMaintain workshop cleanliness, organisation, and safety standardsUse hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectivelySupport senior technicians as required and follow established proceduresAssist with documenting work completed, parts used, and job progressLoad, unload, and handle engines, components, and equipment safelyAdditional Requirements
Basic understanding of mechanical tools, components, and proceduresAbility to follow instructions and work both independently and with a teamGood communication skills — able to liaise with team members and supervisorsCurrent driver’s licence preferredPunctual and dependable, with strong attention to detailWillingness to work in varied conditions (indoor / outdoor environments)Preferred Qualifications
Boating licence or experience operating vessels (preferred but not essential)Forklift licence or willingness to obtain (preferred but not essential)Experience working with diesel or petrol enginesMarine industry experience (even limited) highly regarded (preferred but not essential)Basic electrical knowledgeTAFE qualification in Marine, Mechanical, or similar trade pathway (preferred but not essential)Experience in a professional workshop environmentWhat we offer
