A well‑established and fast‑growing renewable energy infrastructure developer with a strong international backing, this organisation also has a significant presence in the Australian market. Specialising in delivering large‑scale solar and wind projects, with active interstate developments, this organisation is working on some of the largest renewable energy projects in Australia.
About the role
This is a stand‑alone WHSE role, ideal for someone who is both strategic and hands‑on. You'll lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of WHSE policies and management systems across multiple project sites. With the company’s strong foundation in safety already in place, this role offers the chance to truly own and shape the WHSE function, while being supported by an engaged leadership team.
Duties
Develop and implement policies and systems aligned to ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.Develop and implement Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and approve contractor Construction Environmental Management Plans / Site Environmental Management Plans (SEMP / SEMP)Ensure company‑wide and project‑specific compliance with environmental legislation, planning approvals, and permit conditions.Conduct regular site visits (approx. 20–30% travel) to engage and upskill project teams and promote a proactive safety culture.Create clear, actionable WHSE plans and training initiatives to support operational and strategic goals.Build trusted relationships with project teams, contractors, and management.Act as the key WHSE point of contact for clients, contractors, and external stakeholders.Skills & Experience
Proven WHSE experience within renewables, oil and gas, infrastructure, or related industries (solar / wind experience highly regarded).Sound understanding of WHS legislation and ISO accreditation frameworks (9001, 14001, 45001).Experience developing and implementing Health and Safety Systems, and Environmental Management SystemsStrong communication skills and the ability to influence across all levels of the business.Cert IV in Work Health & Safety or equivalent (Diploma highly regarded).Ideally tertiary qualifications in the Environmental field.Ability to analyse gaps and implement practical, solutions‑focused improvements.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.Culture
