About the Team
The SIRS PPI branch supports the Commission’s purpose through a strong focus on improved sector engagement and reporting relating to the SIRS by :
- strengthening the engagement approach to provide improved advice and education about SIRS reporting
- targeted insights reporting to support the sector to prevent and manage serious incidents
- redesigning the SIRS form to provide more clarity and improve the quality of reporting
- leverage the Commission’s maturing analytics capability to develop further insights into sector-level, segmented and provider-level trends and systemic issues.
The SIRS is an initiative to help prevent and reduce the risk and occurrence of incidents of abuse and neglect of older Australians receiving Commonwealth-subsidised aged care and services.
About the Role
The EL2 Directors (multiple) within the SIRS PPI branch work in close partnership to support the Assistant Commissioner SIRS PPI, to deliver the selected areas of the program.
The Directors will each lead a small team across either Analytics and Insights, Engagement and Sector Capability, and SIRS Form Redesign. Together the teams will engage with areas across the Commission and the sector to deliver on aspects of the program.
Undertake effective planning and coordinating of activities to successfully deliver program outcomes.Work closely with the Assistant Commissioner SIRS PPI to identify program priorities.Align project delivery and planning to the broader program objectives and delivery approach.Day-to-day leadership and management of program initiatives and operational deliverables.Monitor and track progress, risks, issues and dependencies, and provide regular reports to the Assistant Commissioner SIRS PPI, working group and working sub-groups, governing forums and key stakeholders.Manage risks and issues including mitigation and escalation activities where required.Lead data-driven initiatives and effectively communicate data analytics and findings.Drive improvements in data and intelligence capability across the SIRS, including the use of data, information and intelligence in decision making.Ensure effective and accurate data capture to enable risk modelling and analysis of trends.Undertakes objective, critical analysis and distils the core issues.Develop content and coordinate stakeholder engagement activities to ensure adequate input is maintained across the Commission.Build strong relationships and effective communications with key internal and external stakeholders.Support the Assistant Commissioner SIRS PPI to maintain and develop workforce capability and capacity.Adhere to the APS Values and Code of Conduct.Key Capabilities :
Navigate strategic context - understand the environmental and broader policy landscape, identify opportunities, distil key issues and determine priorities.Think critically - assess the implications of Commission, Government and Sector changes that may impact the SIRS program and develop cogent insights to inform policy and program advice.Communication – have excellent written skills to develop program content and briefs. In addition to advanced verbal communication skills for presentation and public speaking in open forums and with providers.Analyse information - candidates should have the capability to analyse information and data inputs, distil key messages and adapt delivery in an engaging and creative manner to influence varied audiences.Lead teams and provide expert advice - lead and build high performing teams, provide strategic direction; allocate resources effectively and respond flexibly to changing demands; provide subject matter expertise to achieve outcomes.Deliver outcomes - work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity. Candidates need to demonstrate self-motivation, initiative and the willingness and ability to lead and drive initiatives.Excellent relationship management skills – be comfortable with collaboration and be able to work with people with different perspectives to achieve outcomes.Leadership – be proactive, innovative and inclusive. The successful candidate will have the ability to lead, develop and inspire staff within their section to work effectively across organisational boundaries to achieve results. This candidate must demonstrate their ability to be innovative, collaborative and use a risk and evidence-based approach to manage complex matters including managing under performance where required.Risk – demonstrated strategic, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess and manage risk.Financial Accountabilities – as per approved project budgets and financial delegations.People Accountabilities – this role includes responsibilities for formal staff supervision.Salary offered will be between $141,487 - $167,513 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
Roles are offered on an Ongoing / Non-Ongoing basis, with Non-Ongoing roles offered for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of one extension up to an additional 12 months.
