About the Role

An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated and passionate VCE Media and English Teacher to join a Christian-focused school in Taylors Hill, located in Melbourne’s West, commencing in Term 1, 2026. This role involves teaching VCE Media and English to senior students in Years 11–12.

This esteemed Christian school caters to approximately 1,300 students from Years 7–12 across two campuses. Renowned for its excellent student behaviour and strong community values, the school offers a supportive teaching environment with access to learning coaches, modern facilities, and abundant resources to foster both academic excellence and personal growth.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging English and Media lessons that build advanced language, literacy, and production skills aligned with the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Expose students to diverse literary and media texts, fostering critical and creative thinking through analysis, discussion, and practical creation.
  • Develop students’ writing, communication, and media production skills using digital tools, editing software, and creative projects such as films, podcasts, and written pieces.
  • Assess student understanding of literary and media concepts through analytical and creative tasks that demonstrate depth and originality.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate English and Media learning across the curriculum and stay current with evolving educational and industry trends.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to students, including spiritual guidance, counselling, and mentorship as required.
  • Incorporate Christian teachings and ethics into classroom discussions and interactions with students.
  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the school and actively contribute to its Christian ethos.

Skills & Experience

  • Possess relevant qualifications in Education.
  • Hold a valid and up-to-date VIT (Victorian Institute of Teaching) registration.
  • Have full and unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • Demonstrate proven experience teaching VCE Media and English.
  • Experience in Christian or Catholic school environments is highly desirable.
  • Provide contact details for two recent, education-based referees (within the last five years).
  • Teach VCE Media predominantly and English.

  • Start in Term 1, 2026, in a full-time, permanent position.
  • Receive a competitive salary based on your experience, ranging from $79,000 to $118,000.
