Overview
Mechanical Engineer – Product Design & Development at Rhino-Rack. This role focuses on the design, development and installation of roof rack systems and vehicle accessories, supporting the New Product Development (NPD) cycle from concept to manufacturing. It involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, safety and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop roof rack systems, components and accessories using a variety of manufacturing methods.
- Deliver designs, drawings, test reports, documentation and specifications that meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with lead engineers, category managers, operations and supply chain throughout the NPD process.
- Conduct DFM, DFQ projects and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform fitment tests, failure analysis and product validation to meet quality and compliance standards.
- Partner with global engineering teams and technical writers to improve product performance and end-user experience.
- Support QA investigations and provide technical input for training activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering (or related).3-7+ years’ experience in a mechanical engineering role, ideally in automotive or outdoor products.Strong background in load carrying mechanical systems and NPD processes.Proficiency in SolidWorks (surface and part modelling).Experience with analysis techniques such as FEA (Ansys Mechanical).Understanding and experience of part design using processes such as sheet metal forming, plastic injection moulding, extrusions, metal stamping and casting.Excellent problem-solving, time management and collaboration skills.Strong written and verbal communication abilities.Passion for getting out and about and exploring outdoors.Why Join Rhino-Rack
