Manager, Operational Risk and Compliance (Investments)

Rest is one of Australia’s largest profit‑to‑member superannuation funds, supporting nearly two million members with over $86 billion of funds under management.

We’re looking for an experienced professional who can develop and maintain the investment team’s risk profile, partner with investment units to conduct risk assessments, lead operational incident investigations, drive compliance with CPS230, and deliver risk reporting to management and the Board.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the investment team’s risk profile to support strategic and regulatory objectives.
  • Partner with the investment business unit to conduct risk assessments and implement effective controls, executing the Line 1 controls testing program—including design effectiveness and operational effectiveness testing.
  • Lead the identification, investigation, and resolution of operational incidents, including internal and external audit issues.
  • Lead activities that facilitate the investment team’s compliance with CPS230 by enhancing operational continuity planning.
  • Deliver operational risk reporting to management and the Board.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, economics, business or equivalent.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) or membership of the Risk Management Institute of Australia or GRC Institute.
  • Demonstrated experience in operational risk and compliance management in investment management and / or superannuation.
  • Extensive experience with control testing and assurance activities.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and prioritising competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commercial approach to compliance risk management.
  • Well‑developed interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills.
