Overview

St Mary Star of the Sea College is a Catholic Girls’ Secondary School in the Good Samaritan tradition. This is a full-time permanent position as an HSIE Teacher (History, Society and Culture) commencing January 2026. Location : Wollongong, NSW. Applications Close : 19 October 2025.

The Opportunity

The HSIE Teacher provides a contemporary education to students in accordance with the appropriate syllabus and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. This includes the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Recognised teaching qualification, approved for teaching secondary school (Stages 4-6) with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accreditation
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Stage 6 Society and Culture and Junior History
  • Experience teaching Senior Ancient History and Modern History is advantageous
  • Qualifications and / or experience teaching Religious Education is advantageous
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of a holistic approach to education that challenges each student’s creativity, initiative and ability
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, critical analysis and problem-solving abilities; ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Proven ability to structure lessons that meet the individual development needs of students
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission and purpose of an all-girl Catholic College embracing the Good Samaritan and Benedictine tradition
  • Strong digital literacy with the ability to engage with a variety of technologies
