A temporary 4 day a week Ultrasound Senior Radiographer / Sonographer position is currently available to cover 40 weeks of extended leave commencing in February 2026. The Medical Imaging Department has a full range of imaging modalities including general, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology, angiography, CT, MRI and ultrasound. The successful applicant will oversee the daily operational requirements and training of the ultrasound modality area which has 4 US systems
Where you’ll be working
Sutherland Hospital is located in the Sutherland Shire close to beaches, cafes, transport and shopping centres. The department performs around 75,000 examinations per year and offers training opportunities. It is a small, dedicated team who work collaboratively providing imaging services to our inpatients, emergency department and outpatients.
What you’ll be doing

The US Section Manager will be overseeing the day-to-day operational requirements, orientation and training of medical radiation scientists, and other health professionals to the clinical specialty. The department has 4 Philips EPIQ US units. The successful applicant will be responsible for the workflow to ensure maximum throughput and utilisation within the work area. They will be responsible for the maintaining and ongoing development of imaging protocols relevant to the modality area. Current US activity includes general, O&G, abdominal, limited MSK and limited vascular.
The successful applicant needs to ensure strong and effective communication between staff, patients and referrers to ensure a smooth and efficient service occurs. The position is under the direction of the Medical Imaging Manager, Assistant Chief MRS and relevant Staff Specialist, be accountable for the maintenance of high standards of imaging.
