Engineering Team Leader - Residential Civil

Intrax Consulting is seeking a Civil Engineering Team Leader to drive technical excellence and lead our Residential Stormwater team. This role focuses on delivering detached housing, multi-unit, and basement drainage projects across Victoria. It blends hands-on design with operational oversight, people leadership, and strategic client management.

Our client list includes leading residential builders, industrial and commercial development companies, government and urban land authorities, developers, and architects.

The Opportunity

This is more than a technical leadership role. You’ll mentor engineers and drafters (local and offshore), oversee resource planning and project forecasting, and strengthen partnerships with councils, water authorities, and Tier-1 builders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and empower a team of 6+ engineers and drafters (including offshore resources) to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Design and review residential and mixed-use stormwater systems; on-site detention (OSD), multi-unit drainage, basement and subsoil systems, and WSUD solutions, compliant with AS 3500.1 and local authority requirements.
• Oversee operational performance : workflow allocation, budgeting, forecasting, and delivery tracking across multiple projects.
• Drive process improvement and foster collaboration between surveying, structural, and geotechnical disciplines, builders, and local authorities to improve design efficiency.
• Partner with clients to scope projects, prepare tenders, and provide civil design input during concept and construction phases.
• Engage with councils and water authorities, navigating permits, planning schemes, and stormwater approval processes.
• Champion a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement within the team.
