The vision for nursing at Prince of Wales Hospital is Transforming Person Centred Care Together. The After Hours Nurse Manager (AHNM) is a senior nurse manager responsible for the overall management of the facility outside of business hours. As such the AHNM has a whole of hospital responsibility. This includes the operational management of patient access and care coordination, and in monitoring associated KPI targets such as Emergency Treatment Performance (ETP) and Transfer of Care (TOC).
The AHNM will manage all significant events outside of business hours in consultation with the nominated Executive rostered on‑call. The AHNM has a professional responsibility for the nursing and associated support staff working after hours including the effective management of skill mix, monitoring and replacement of unplanned shifts and WH&S associated responsibilities.
The AHNM works in close collaboration with the Nursing Services Team, Patient Flow Team, Advance Practice Nurse Team. As a leader in the organisation, the AHNM will assist progress nurse‑led strategy and practice improvement through a practice development approach.
Where You'll be Working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non‑admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care.
We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person‑centred care.
