The Role

The Nurse Manager After Hours is responsible for the supervision of nursing care in all areas of the Hospital according to the philosophy, objectives, plans, policies, protocols and procedures of the Hospital and the Nursing services.
The Nurse Manager After Hours role involves the coordination of all clinical care after hours and ensuring the safe operation of the Hospital including coordination of emergency responses.
The Nurse Manager After Hours communicates with members of the Hospital Executive as necessary to ensure safe operation of the Hospital and the appropriate management of incidents and accidents, patient and staff complaints and public relations when other members of the management team are not available to respond to these. They also coordinate the appropriate utilisation of afterhours maintenance services as required. HealthRoster is to be maintained with permanent staff and casual staff shifts allocated to the appropriate cost centres.

Current registration as Registered Nurse and / or Registered Midwife with Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).Relevant management tertiary qualifications or extensive clinical experience and relevant management experience.Demonstrated recent experience at senior nursing management level in an acute hospital.Demonstrated ability to manage operational issues at a facility level that include patient flow / patient access, managing a dynamic bed base and manage key financial performance management goals.Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.Knowledge of Work Health and Safety and Injury Management, security, risk, and safety management, associated with an acute health service.Proven ability to coordinate staff and deal effectively with unexpected situations.Demonstrated knowledge and experience using information systems including HealthRoster, iPM, IIMS+, Patient Flow Portal, Electronic Journey Board, Staff Link, FirstNet and Microsoft Office software.Need more information?
