Join our team as a Team Leader (Water Industry Worker 4)
Lead a small crew to deliver high-quality reactive and planned maintenance, non-routine construction, and property connection services across Redland City’s water and wastewater networks. You’ll be responsible for ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, while promoting a strong safety culture and supporting positive outcomes for the community.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Leading a crew to deliver safe, timely and high-quality maintenance and construction services
- Supervising day-to-day operations while fostering teamwork, fairness, and cooperation
- Ensuring compliance with water industry standards, regulations, and best practices
- Promoting and maintaining a strong safety-first culture in all work activities
- Providing technical advice and problem-solving support for operational challenges
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement in work methods and practices
- Maintaining accurate work records, job costing, and system updates
- Building positive relationships with customers and stakeholders through clear communication
Skills and experience :
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support a work crew in a field-based environmentDemonstrated success delivering water / wastewater maintenance and construction servicesStrong interpersonal skills with experience in training, conflict resolution, and motivationPhysically capable of performing a wide range of manual and labouring tasksSound knowledge of WHS regulations and commitment to promoting a safety-first cultureStrong customer service focus with the ability to negotiate and resolve issues effectivelyConfident decision-making in complex operational situationsProficient in administration, record keeping, and clear written and verbal communicationWhy this role stands out :

Ability and fitness to perform manual and physically demanding tasksConstruction White Card (Work Safely in the Construction Industry)Ability to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including weekends and public holidaysMinimum of 4 years’ experience in the water industryAbility to obtain and maintain a Confined Space Entry CertificateCommitment to meeting all licensing, safety and regulatory requirements set by CouncilThe legal right to work in AustraliaAbility to obtain (with Council support) :
Heavy Rigid (HR) licence within 2 years of employmentAqua, Brown, and Green Card training within 3 months of employmentTraining, assessment and / or Verification of Competency (VOC) for operating Backhoe, Excavator, high-pressure water jetting equipment, Vacuum truck and Jet rodder truck within 2 years of employmentCertificate IV in Water Industry Operations (or equivalent qualification) within 2 years of employmentQualifications in a relevant trade or technical fieldCurrent plant operation ticketsHigh Risk Work Licence – Forklift Truck (LF)How to apply :
