Graphic Designer – Design & Brand Team

Brimbank City Council is seeking a versatile mid‑level graphic designer to join our Design and Brand team. This role focuses on creating and maintaining high‑quality brand assets for a diverse community and staff audiences.

About the role

  • Design and layout quality products to communicate messaging to internal and external audiences.
  • Assist in developing ‘campaign’ graphics and assets for digital and print.
  • Support and educate staff on the use of Council’s brand and accessibility standards.
  • Maintain and develop Design and Brand tools, including Microsoft Office templates and Digital Asset Library (DAL) imagery.
  • Ensure a high standard of file management; proof and check files before release.
  • Actively support Design and Brand administrative functions.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the Design and Brand team to uphold brand standards and visually elevate multimedia communication tools.
  • Manage design‑administration functions critical to service delivery.
  • Collaborate across varied projects, flexing creative thinking to inform an diverse community.
  • About you

  • You have 4+ years of graphic design or industry experience and tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design.
  • Strong design skills across print and digital platforms, with demonstrated brand management experience.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, and managing digital assets.
  • Excellent attention to detail, independent working ability, and a creative eye for brand consistency.
  • Portfolio showcasing versatile design thinking and digital marketing materials.
  • Willingness to support additional team tasks as required.
  • Experience & qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years graphic design or related industry experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design.
  • A creative eye and strong attention to detail.
  • Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva, and Mailchimp experience.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Portfolio demonstrating brand consistency across multiple projects.

  • Employment details

  • Permanent role with a fixed‑term component : 0.8 FTE (part‑time 2 days per week).
  • Working 4 days per week : 3 days in office (hands‑on) and 1 day remote.
  • Fixed‑term component may be extended.
  • Benefits

  • 16 days personal leave per year (pro‑rata).
  • 20 weeks paid parental leave (pro‑rata).
