- The Role
- ASO6 Community Engagement Officer
- is an experienced and enthusiastic communications generalist who can manage a busy and diverse workload. One day you might be drafting a media release, the next day gathering and writing content for a project update, and the next going on a video shoot or helping at an engagement pop-up event.
This is an exciting opportunity which offers autonomy and the chance to work with like-minded professionals and stakeholders across projects.
- Key accountabilities will include
- Support the delivery of effective, well-evidenced and targeted community and stakeholder engagement activities
- Assist with the planning, production, coordination and implementation of communications materials, campaigns and programs across various infrastructure projects.
- Write, create, edit, curate and publish engaging written, digital and interactive content that for a range of ACT Government channels including social media, website and electronic mail.
- Assist in coordinating events, presentations, displays and support project teams at community engagement activities.
- Assist with reactive media enquiries, producing media materials, organising media briefings and preparing media reporting.
- Work collaboratively across the directorate and government with Communications and Engagement Service, Senior Officers, and Ministers' Offices to deliver key activities
- Contribute to the evaluation and ongoing improvement of projects by interpreting data and implementing advice
- Participate in best practice communications and engagement response at the Public Information Coordination Centre (PICC) in times of a Territory emergency.
- Demonstrated experience in content creation and planning and implementing communications strategies, including writing, editing and storytelling for different audiences and for different mediums and channels such as video, social media, websites, traditional media and print.
- Sound knowledge of and experience planning and delivering contemporary communications, stakeholder and community engagement activities.
- Experience in media and reputation management, both reactive and pro-active and producing media materials, organising media briefings and preparing media reporting
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or a minimum of 3 years' experience working professionally in the fields of communications and content production, media, public relations, marketing, or strategic communications.
- IAP2 qualifications are desirable.
- The ability to work flexibly with some out of hours work may also be required.
