(CRDVS) aims to use its specialist knowledge and skills to prevent domestic and family violence in the community and empower those affected by it.

We seek to do this by providing a confidential, comprehensive, and client-centred quality service to all vulnerable clients free of charge. CRDVS at all times strives to uphold high levels of professionalism and accountability.
How You'll Make a Difference CRDVS is looking for a part-time Child and Youth Worker (Embedded YETI Worker) based in Cairns, QLD, working 60 hours per fortnight (0.8 FTE).
This position is embedded at Youth Empowered Towards Independence (YETI), a youth-specific community service. In this role, you'll engage directly with young people who may not otherwise access traditional domestic violence supports — offering them trauma-informed intervention, crisis response, and a safe space.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Providing crisis intervention, safety planning, and case management for young people experiencing domestic and family violence who are at risk but may not seek traditional DV servicesOffering trauma-informed emotional support and counselling to young people with complex needsAdvocating for young people in relation to legal, housing, and safety concernsCollaborating with YETI and key stakeholders to maintain service integration and professional boundariesMaintaining accurate client records, case notes, and reports in accordance with CRDVS policies and funding requirementsThis is a fixed-term contract through to 31 December 2025, with potential for extension based on funding and organisational movement.
What You'll Bring to the Team To qualify, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work, Community Services, or a related discipline, and 1–2 years experience working with young people in a DFV or trauma-informed context.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued :
Additional qualifications or training in domestic and family violence (DV), trauma-informed care, or crisis interventionA strong understanding of youth trauma and developmental stagesFamiliarity with crisis intervention strategies and trauma-informed practiceA comprehensive understanding of gendered violence and its specific impact on young peopleExperience working with high-risk or marginalised youth, including Indigenous young peopleHigh-level interpersonal and written communication skillsThe ability to work independently, build rapport quickly, and remain calm under pressureExperience working in embedded or cross-organisational settings is beneficialAs our ideal candidate, you will be resilient, adaptable, and passionate about working with youth.
You'll bring a non-judgemental, strengths-based approach, paired with emotional intelligence and the capacity to engage young people who may be in crisis or reluctant to engage in formal support systems.
