The Role As Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the company's legal, compliance, and commercial activities. This position requires a commercially minded legal professional with experience in energy, utilities, or infrastructure, who can work across a range of matters including regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, dispute resolution, and corporate governance.

You will be a trusted advisor to senior leaders and operational teams, helping to manage legal risk and enable strategic growth in the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities Provide expert legal advice on regulatory compliance matters, particularly relating to the National Energy Retail Law, Rules, and relevant state-based energy frameworks Monitor and interpret changes in legislation, codes, and guidelines impacting retail electricity operations, translating them into actionable business practices Develop, review, and maintain compliance frameworks, policies, and training programs to promote regulatory adherence across the business Support the development and negotiation of customer contracts, disclosure documents, and other regulated materials Advise senior leadership on legal risk management and assist in responses to regulatory investigations or enforcement actions Represent the company in dealings with regulatory bodies such as the AER, AEMC, AEMO, and state ombudsman schemes Collaborate with commercial, risk, and operational teams to ensure alignment between regulatory obligations and business strategy Engage and manage external legal counsel for specialist matters when required Your Experience Minimum 3+ years' post-admission experience, ideally within energy regulation, utilities, infrastructure, or a compliance-focused legal role Deep understanding of Australian energy laws and regulatory processes, particularly those affecting retail energy providers Proven ability to interpret complex legal issues and provide practical advice to cross-functional business teams Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to influence and educate non-legal audiences High attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-changing regulatory environment Experience working within or advising growth-stage or customer-facing energy businesses is highly regarded Next Steps If you are a looking for the next challenge in your career, please apply now or call Joel Melbourne from Advance Careers on 0466 697 913 for more information.
