The Role :
We are seeking a strategic and commercially minded Business Development & Commercial Manager to lead the transformation of Barnardos' Early Learning Centres (ELCs) into sustainable, profit-generating entities. This 12-month contract position is based at our Head Office in Ultimo and plays a pivotal role in driving operational and financial performance, overseeing key infrastructure and facilities, while leading high-impact business development initiatives.
Reporting to the Executive Leader, Finance and Corporate, and leading a team of four.
Key Responsibilities : Drive the commercial transformation of Barnardos' two existing Early Learning Centres.Oversee the successful project launch of a new ELC site, ensuring operational viability.Lead business development strategies, including funding and tender submissions.Manage Barnardos' facilities portfolio, lease agreements, and contractor relationships.Oversee building operations, motor vehicle fleet, insurances, and supplier performance.Provide strong leadership to a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to cross-portfolio initiatives.Maintain budget control, reporting functions, and risk mitigation strategies across Business and Property Services.About You :
You are a dynamic and commercially driven leader with experience overseeing early childhood centres or similar service portfolios. You bring strong business acumen, a background in operational management, and a collaborative leadership style. You are comfortable managing diverse stakeholder relationships and enjoy working in a values-driven organisation where your decisions directly impact the wellbeing of children and families.
Requirements : Demonstrated experience in business operations, early learning centre management or commercial development.Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams and large-scale projects.Sound financial and contract management skills, including budget preparation and reporting.Strong understanding of facilities, property, and asset management in a service-based environment.Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.Alignment with the mission and values of Barnardos.What We Offer : Meaningful work that makes a difference in the lives of children and families.A collaborative, supportive culture within a leading not-for-profit organisation.Access to salary packaging and flexible work conditions.35-hour full-time work week, with professional development opportunities.Salary : Base $146,000 to $160,000per annum plus leave loading plus superannuation.
