Physiotherapy Assistant

As a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will be responsible for facilitating the effective and efficient operation of the Physiotherapy department through both clinical and non-clinical duties. This will include assisting Physiotherapists in the treatment of patients, with the goals of achieving patient-centred outcomes and improved functional capacity.

Your role will involve but is not limited to :

• Undertaking non-treatment activities as required such as : preparing and escorting patients for therapy, preparing equipment required for treatment, assisting the physiotherapist in joint therapy sessions, set up and dismantling of group therapy areas / equipment; data collection and entry.
• Under the specific instruction of a Physiotherapist, supervise the practice of established exercise programs, including walking, muscle strengthening, and reconditioning and balance exercises.
• Maintaining all professional and safety standards when dealing with patients ensuring care is consistent with best possible quality care provision

Essential Criteria :

• Demonstrated ability to work under the supervision of a Physiotherapist to deliver individual and group exercise therapy sessions
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment to efficiently manage workload demands and priorities
• Proven ability to communicate effectively both within a health care team and with a wide range of patients / consumers
• Demonstrated ability to work within professional and safety standards and identify and escalate risks
• Availability to work weekends

Desirable :

• Previous work experience in a similar role
• Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance, or currently completing an undergraduate allied health university degree
