  • Support teams in translating strategy into outcomes that improve services for children, young people, and families across WA.
  • Contribute to healthier futures for WA’s youngest patients.

This is a Fixed Term (6 months), Full Time appointment with the possibility of extension and / or permanency.

About the Role

We’re seeking a highly organised and motivated Senior Project Officer to join our Program Management Office (PMO) team. This is an exciting time to join the PMO and help shape the future of CAHS as we strengthen our focus on strategic planning, governance, and portfolio assurance to deliver initiatives that support our mission : healthier futures for WA’s kids.

As Senior Project Officer, you support the Director PMO and work closely with clinical and operational leaders to prioritise, plan, and execute complex initiatives that deliver strategic change, reform, clinical service redesign, safe, efficient and family-centred care, and long-term system sustainability. Domains include digital transformation, facilities management, infrastructure, and research and innovation and current projects include Meals on Demand, HealthPoint system upgrade, and the Medical Equipment and Imaging Replacement Program (MEIRP).

Your ability to manage competing priorities and to communicate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders at different levels will be highly valued.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Contributing across the full project lifecycle, supporting robust governance and assurance to ensure projects meet quality, risk, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • Applying effective change management strategies, and coaching teams and leaders in contemporary practice.
  • Developing end-to-end project documentation, including project plans, briefing notes, progress reports, and board and ministerial correspondence.
  • Leveraging activity and financial data to inform and contribute to the development of strategy, business cases, and project plans.
  • Developing and maintaining reporting standards, monitoring performance against project plans, and presenting status reports to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Representing CAHS within state‑wide working groups and fostering strong relationships with WA Health entities, clinicians, and community stakeholders
  • The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in project management, with the ability to plan and manage effectively. Prior experience in healthcare will be highly regarded but is not essential.

    About the PMO

The Program Management Office (PMO) at the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) oversees the planning, delivery, performance, and governance of key initiatives and projects across the organisation. Its role is to ensure all activities align with CAHS’ mission of creating healthier futures for infants, children, and young people in Western Australia. This includes driving clinical reform, improving system efficiency, and fostering innovation in support of the CAHS Strategic Action Plan.

The PMO works closely with teams and leaders to embed data-driven decision making, stakeholder engagement, and effective change management. By prioritising value-driven projects, supporting system-wide transformation, and helping translate strategy into frontline outcomes, the PMO builds organisational capability and promotes shared learning. In doing so, it ensures CAHS remains agile, effective, and focused on delivering safe, connected, and child-centred care across the state.

WA Health is committed to eliminating all forms of discrimination in the provision of our service. We embrace diversity and strongly encourage applications from people from culturally diverse backgrounds and people with disabilities.

In addition, we are committed to growing our Aboriginal workforce as part of WA Health Aboriginal Workforce Policy. As a measure to achieve equality, Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 applies to this position and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process.
