Key Outcomes and Accountabilities

  • The aim of this role is to
  • Provide confidential executive support and advice to the Executive Director in a fast paced and sensitive working environment.
  • Gather and evaluate information to establish facts and reach new conclusions, specific to QBCC operational issues, legislation, and the building and construction industry.
  • Analyse current and historical information to inform decisions and identify any critical gaps and maintain awareness of recent developments that may impact on the business area and acquire best practice approaches.
  • Prepare briefings, submissions and other complex and sensitive documents to assist the Executive Director, in addressing issues affecting the QBCC and the building and construction industry.
  • Provide advice that is rigorously considered and supported by clear rationale.
  • Written and verbal communication skills that clearly and concisely delivers content in line with plain english principles, and ability to articulate and tailor delivery of message for relevant audience.
  • Manage relationships with the Executive Director, other senior QBCC staff, as well as key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate agreements and negotiate outcomes.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy and discretion to communicate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders in order to gather information and prepare advice.
  • Capacity to operate and work fluently across a range of systems and tools to achieve complex tasks.
  • Support the Regulatory Practice and Engagement division as required in delivery of functions including preparation of briefing notes, budgets and other documents.
  • Organisation and management of divisional Board and Committee submissions, ensuring timely and correctly formatted submissions from document owners and liaison with the Office of the Chief Building Regulator during the review process.
