The General Support Officer also performs administrative duties, which includes using databases for assets management and recordkeeping. As required, this officer also provides assistance to the Delivery Services team by delivering mail or assisting the Senate Printing team. The General Support Officer may also be called on to assist with the setup of committee rooms and to provide support to Senate Estimates hearings. The General Support Officer must be able to work across teams and be willing to learn new and additional tasks.
All tasks require the General Support Officer to be client-focused, have excellent communication skills and be able to follow directions, policies and procedures, including workplace health and safety procedures.
The occupant of this position is required to provide high-level client service, including assisting in coverage of the front counter and telephones and performing related administrative tasks, including maintaining the client management database and departmental records. The General Support Officer (Committees) carries out duties in accordance with established policies and procedures, including work health and safety procedures, while demonstrating a client-focused and flexible approach and utilising organisational skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
