Environmental Health Officer

Our Local Government client is looking for an enthusiastic and qualified Environmental Health Officer to join their Safer Communities team within the Development & Communities Division. This is role offered on a 3 month contract with possibility of extension.

In this dynamic and varied role, you will play a key part in promoting and maintaining high standards of public and environmental health across our vibrant riverside City. Reporting to the Coordinator Environmental Health , you’ll contribute to a broad range of public health activities that support community wellbeing and compliance with legislation.

What You’ll Be Doing :

• Conduct inspections of food premises, public buildings, dwellings, stables, aquatic facilities and events to ensure compliance with public health and safety standards.
• Investigate health-related complaints including noise, pests, infectious diseases, and environmental nuisances, and take appropriate enforcement actions.
• Review development applications to ensure environmental health considerations are met, including for food businesses and on-site effluent systems.
• Provide education and advice to the public, residents and local businesses on food safety, immunisation, pest control and environmental health legislation.
• Develop and implement monitoring programs such as food sampling, mosquito control, recreational water testing and public health risk mitigation.
• Prepare detailed reports, liaise with legal representatives when necessary, and contribute to the continuous improvement of health service delivery within the City.
