Principal Recruitment Consultant - Engineering About the Role We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer for an immediate short-term contract with the potential for extension. You will support the delivery of essential environmental and public health functions, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and contributing to a safe and healthy community environment.
This is an autonomous, hands-on role suited to a qualified professional with a strong background in Environmental Health and the ability to hit the ground running.
Key Responsibilities Conduct inspections, assessments, and investigations under the Public Health Act 2016 , Food Act , Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act , Environmental Protection Act 1986 , and other applicable legislation. Enforce compliance in areas such as food safety, noise, public buildings, aquatic facilities, water sampling, pest and mosquito control, waste, septic systems, and public events. Prepare documentation including notices, reports, and prosecution recommendations where necessary. Liaise with residents, businesses, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to provide expert advice and manage public health complaints. Ensure a safe working environment in line with current WH&S standards. About You To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential requirements :
Qualification recognised by the Chief Health Officer for appointment as an Authorised Officer under the Public Health Act 2016 . Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Noise Officer under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 . Knowledge of and experience with the Food Act and associated regulatory frameworks. White Card (Construction Induction). Sound understanding of WH&S practices relevant to field inspections. Strong interpersonal, organisational, and report writing skills. Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and as part of a team. Current Driver's Licence (required for use of a fleet vehicle). National Police Clearance (issued within the past 12 months). Why Apply? Attractive hourly rate of $60–$65 depending on experience. 3-month assignment with potential for extension.
