About this opportunity
As an HSE Lead – Vessel Services – Australia you will :
Provide operational HSE leadership across the Australian vessel fleet and ensure operational HSE risks are effectively identified, managed and compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements is achieved. Drive a high-performing safety culture, embedding strong HSE leadership behaviours, and ensuring that HSE is deeply integrated into operational decision-making.Some key responsibilities :
Align vessel HSE activities with company-wide HSEQ strategy, including sustainability and risk management prioritiesLead the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE systems and processes across the Australian vessel fleetProvide subject matter expertise, coaching and support to operational teams on all HSE mattersReview contractor HSE plans and procedures for vessel project scopesSupport Vessel Managers, and crews with the implementation of safe systems of work, hazard identification, and risk controlsLead and support incident investigations using ICAM or equivalent methodology.Ensure vessel operations comply with applicable maritime safety regulations (e.g., ISM Code, Marine Orders, MLC), company standards, and client requirementsEssential Qualifications
Former or current maritime qualification (e.g., MasterDesirable Qualifications
Knowledge of international standards and codes, including ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC and ISPSDesignated Person Ashore (DPA) qualificationCompany Security Officer (CSO) qualificationCertificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety – or equivalentWhat do we need from you?
Experience conducting or participating in internal / external audits (e.g., ISM, ISO, Flag State Inspections, Port State Control).Ability to lead investigations and ensure effective corrective and preventative actionSkilled in root cause analysis (e.g., ICAM, TapRoot, or equivalent).Ability to lead onshore and offshore teams and influence safe behavioursDeep understanding of Vessel Services risks and mitigation strategiesExcellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with personnel of all working levelsUndertake and manage decision-making in high-risk environments
