Role Summary The Lead Application Engineer is responsible for guiding the design, development, and delivery of software development team, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
Lead Application Engineer is to provide technical leadership to the development team, mentor engineers, and oversee code quality and architectural decisions.
This role involves close collaboration with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions. The Lead Application Engineer is to play a key role in troubleshooting complex issues and continuously improving development practices.
Main Responsibilities Operations Management :
Leading and overseeing day-to-day technical operations across CUBE's content tooling and pipelines within the Transform team.
Partnering with Product Owners to support the end-to-end product development within the team.
Managing incident responses and conducting retrospectives for content-related services.
Monitoring system health, performance, and run time of content platforms.
Process Optimisation :
Identifying inefficiencies in the content engineering workflows and implement appropriate technical solutions.
Automating routine tasks to improve reliability and reduce engineering toil.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management :
Works closely with the editorial / content, product, and infrastructure teams.
Collaborating with other content engineers to make decisions around information structure, relationships and strategy.
Translating content team requirements into product design and implementation.
Driving prioritization and planning of product development initiatives.
Technical Leadership and Innovation :
Partnering with DevOps team to improve observability and CI / CD for content platforms.
Engaging stakeholders on the values and methods of design thinking to solve user needs, while also supporting the product design culture.
Owning environment configuration, deployment, and support for staging and production pipelines.
Communicating with other developers on code related roadblocks, and following up when deadlines are not met.
Ensuring application of best software development practices and compliance with coding standards.
Scaling our solutions through component-based approaches, leveraging and advancing our design system and refining our delivery process as appropriate.
Ensuring compliance with data governance, privacy, and accessibility standards.
Metrics & Reporting :
Help management define key performance indicators (KPIs) for team and system performance.
Identify and present data-driven insights to improve platform reliability and efficiency.
People Management :
Coach the team with empathy and emotional intelligence.
Train and mentor new joiners within the team. Identify development opportunities for direct reports.
Provide continuous feedback to all direct reports through weekly 1 : 1s, and manage annual performance reviews.

Transparency on feature schedules, while features are delivered in a timely manner.
Building out new content delivery solutions for internal clients.

Staying updated with industry best practices, while promoting open discussions of innovation in the team.
Required Skills and Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in software development methodologies, with a focus on delivering high-quality software within tight deadlines.
Familiarity with front-end technologies such as Angular or React is beneficial but not required.
Required Experience : Minimum of 7 years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Extensive development experience on the Microsoft stack, including .NET Core, C#.NET, and Kubernetes.
Strong proficiency in cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure, with experience in the past with serverless programming, event-driven architectures, and NoSQL databases.
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team in a remote or distributed work environment.
Proven track record of driving results through effective project management, resource planning, and risk mitigation strategies.
