We're looking for highly-skilled and passionate people to support Australia's activities on the icy continent where we undertake world-class scientific research to deliver national priorities and answer key questions of global significance.
Australia maintains three permanent research stations on the Antarctic continent (Casey, Davis and Mawson) and one on sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island. Each station is like a small town with a diverse and dedicated workforce, comprising station leaders, tradespeople, scientists, doctors, chefs and telecommunications experts. Expeditioners are supported by head office staff experienced in Antarctic policy, law, operations, medicine, technology, science and media.
About the role
As a Communications Technical Officer you will carry out routine and complex radio and satellite equipment maintenance, make repairs to antennas and associated cabling / feeder systems, and operate communications equipment.
This is a winter job. Summer or shorter winter jobs may become available. Ship based IT and communication support positions may be drawn from successful CTO applicants.
Annual base salary while in Australia - $83,375 pa
Additional allowances while working in Antarctica - $63,437 pa
Superannuation contribution 15.4% plus accrued recreation leave
