- Your Role
As the
- Electrical Superintendent,
- you will be working from the
- Perth project office
- during the engineering phase(s) and assisting the Site Manager in the development of construction strategies, detailed schedules, and ensuring all construction management plan deliverables are met.
The Electrical Superintendent plays an important role in successful project execution through active involvement in the constructability program, Advanced Work Package Development, and detailed execution planning.
The role will transition to site for the execution phase where the Electrical Superintendent will be responsible for supervising and directing operations within assigned discipline or area.
Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
- Key Responsibilities
- Inputs construction considerations into plant siting evaluations and overall plant design philosophies in early design phases of the project.
- Follows design development and, where possible, suggests economical construction details to be incorporated into design drawings and specifications.
- Inputs to develop the most economical construction methods and techniques.
- Participates in overall construction plans, layouts, and organization.
- Participates in project team evaluation of contracts / purchase orders.
- Inputs to field organization and construction equipment bar charts.
- Assists Project Engineering with scope of work development.
- Assists with Advanced Work Packaging development in consultation with Site Manager.
- Assists Construction Work Package and Installation Work Package scope and content.
- Inputs to the Constructability Program register and assists in evaluating suggestions for improvements in safety, cost, and schedule.
- Inputs to the development of the Construction Execution Plan with direction provided by the Site Manager
- Works with Project Engineering, the Site Manager and construction support groups to develop the scope and layout of temporary facilities.
- Responsible for field construction operations within assigned discipline or area.
- Determines workforce requirements. Coordinates established area operational plans. Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft. Monitors work activities and ensures the quality of work performed.
- Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Approves craft time records using established automated tools.
- Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
- Monitors tool usage on the site. Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
- Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
- Responsible for the implementation of corporate / project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned operations.
- Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas and clients' resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
- Performs employee reviews and identifies training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
- Ensures that Bechtel and local / national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility. Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into every aspect of construction operations. Actively participates in scheduled safety meetings.
- Implements Six Sigma tools, analysis, and decision making in the execution of duties.
