We are looking to recruit a People and Culture (P&C) Business Partnering Manager who will report to the Senior Director, Business Partnering. This role will partner with IT & Technology functions at Optus. It presents a great opportunity to drive transformation and shape tomorrow’s workforce.
As an experienced HR professional, you will collaborate closely with colleagues and business leaders to influence, lead and deliver future-fit people strategies with a focus on workforce capability, stakeholder management and business transformation. You will work alongside senior leaders across the organisation, including SLT to instil Optus's core behaviours, foster leadership development, and orchestrate tailored people strategies. Your contributions will directly impact our strategic objectives, bolster employee engagement, and fortify our continuous transformation journey!
Key to your success lies in previous experience across various positions, establishing connections efficiently, crafting rapport with leaders, and applying critical thinking to understand business requirements.
Your day to day
Partnering with P&C Execs & business leaders (including CIO functions) to support running of the business by understanding customer needs, prioritising what matters most and scoping initiatives that deliver strategic value.
Supporting business priorities by guiding critical decisions on workforce structures, tech skills uplift, and culture alignment - ensuring alignment with strategic goals and emerging technologies.
Influencing at the SLT level and confidently engaging with senior executives to gain alignment, deliver change, and embed enterprise-wide people solutions.
Advising on capability frameworks, critical skills mapping, and integrated learning roadmaps to build tech capability in partnership with Talent and L&D CoEs.
Collaborating across P&C to lead, scope and deliver people initiatives aligned with business strategies and in year people plans.
Providing mentorship and support to business leaders, helping them navigate change and effectively lead people challenges.
Working with the P&C Centres of Excellence including the Transformation team to build strategic organisational design models to ensure “fit for future” organisational structures and ways of working models.
Establishing relationships quickly with business leaders across all areas including acting in a delegate capacity when required at Senior Leadership Team engagement and meetings.
What you'll bring
Significant experience simplifying structures and leading changes to the operating model, ensuring P&C practices are aligned with the principles of agility and flexibility.
Ability to gain executive sponsorship and challenge constructively when needed.
Ability to understand and clarify stakeholder needs and where appropriate, offer expert advice and support on people-related decisions and strategies.
Confidence to say no when it matters—while still fostering trusted relationships and influencing positive outcomes.
Experience working in consultation with centres of excellence to enable all stages of the employee lifecycle.
Proven experience with tech capability frameworks, talent pipelining and future -of-work models.
Ability to lead initiatives that increase employee capability, retain talent, drive organisational efficiency, culture, and employee engagement / employee experiences.
Comfortable using commercial acumen to engage with senior stakeholders and help them achieve their business goals in a compliant and process driven manner.
Ability to work at pace in an ambiguous environment within a matrixed organisation.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent knowledge of HR practice and processes including solid understanding of Australian employment law acquired from progressive HR roles.
