About our team

National Security & Resilience | Counter-Terrorism Coord Centre | Ct&Ve Policy & International | Various

The Counter-Terrorism Coordination Centre (CTCC) oversees efforts to prevent and counter terrorism and violent extremism in Australia and is looking to fill a number of EL1 vacancies within the Division. The CTCC advises on the full spectrum of issues from challenging extremist ideologies, steering Australian countering violent extremism (CVE) programs through to national counter-terrorism (CT) capability development and the delivery of effective response and recovery arrangements in the event of a domestic terrorist attack. The CTCC also provides secretariat support and advice to the Commonwealth Counter-Terrorism Coordinator for key intergovernmental forums, including the Australia-New Zealand Counter-Terrorism Committee (ANZCTC). The CTCC consists of three branches :

  • CT&VE Policy and International Branch - Responsible for CT and CVE policy development, including international and strategic engagement, online policy, youth radicalisation and implementation of Australia's Counter-Terrorism and Violent Extremism Strategy
  • CT&VE Operational Coordination and Engagement Branch -Responsible for operational coordination and crisis response policy, CVE training and research, intelligence insights and engagement, and the High-Risk Terrorist Offender regime enabling services
  • CT&VE Capability, Programs and Legal Branch - Responsible for the ANZCTC capability program, CVE program management, and delivering legal policy advice to Government on CT legislative schemes and reform.

Our ideal candidate

  • Assistant Director - Policy Officer operates under broad direction to develop and implement innovative, evidence-based policies. They anticipate and identify policy issues, undertake research, analysis and modelling, and consult with stakeholders to develop and implement policies and programs
  • Assistant Director - Program Manager works under broad direction to lead and manage the implementation, development and continuous improvement of a program. Collaboration is a crucial part of this job role; officers establish and grow productive working relationships through day-to-day liaison with the program network and its stakeholders, including providing specialist advice to colleagues and other staff (internal and external to the organisation).
  • Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide a leadership role in the CTCC to develop high performing teams responsible for coordinating and delivering national CT and CVE programs
  • Develop policy advice on key activities that strengthen national frameworks and initiatives
  • Engage with Commonwealth, State and Territory stakeholders to achieve common goals and further the Australian Government's CT and CVE objectives
  • Ensure that briefing material reflects a whole-of-government perspective, is of a high quality and is timely.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

    The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance, and :

  • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
  • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
  • In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
