Senior Financial Accountant | 12-Month Government Contract

The Role

As the Senior Financial Accountant, you’ll be responsible for supporting end-to-end financial reporting, statutory compliance, and liaising with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO). This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives on detail, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include :

• Preparation of month-end journals, reconciliations, and reporting packs
• Quarterly and annual financial statements
• GL maintenance and balance sheet integrity
• Supporting audit engagements and preparing workpapers
• Tax compliance including FBT and GST calculations
• Cash management and banking transactions
• Contributing to process improvement initiatives and controls

About You

You are a technically strong and reliable finance professional who can hit the ground running. You’re calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and capable of working autonomously while building trust with stakeholders.

You will bring :

• CA / CPA qualification (or equivalent)
• Proven experience in statutory reporting and financial accounting
• Experience in government, regulatory, or highly audited environments
• Strong knowledge of FBT / GST compliance
• Excellent Excel skills and confidence with financial systems (Oracle, TM1 preferred)
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
• Australian Citizenship (mandatory)
