About the role :
We are seeking an experienced Fixed Plant Fitter at our Koolan Island Operation for a permanent position on a 7 Days On / 7 Days Nights / 7 Day Off (12-hour day) roster from Perth, Broome or Derby.
Reporting directly to the Crushing Supervisor, the primary focus of this role is working as part of the Crushing Plant and Ship-loading team to support operations by providing safe and efficient fitting maintenance work on equipment including bulk material conveyors, vibrating feeders, crushers, stackers, screens and ship-loading facilities.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Mechanical repairs to Koolan Island crushing and ship loading infrastructure, including but not limited to :
- Bulk conveyors
- Crushers
- Vibrating feeders
- Stackers, screens
- Ship loaders.
- Refurbishment and / or installation of conveyor pulleys, chutes, conveyor drives, belts and general mechanical components associated with ore processing and transport.
- Ensure that the fixed plant equipment is operating within specified tolerances for that equipment and where necessary carry out adjustments as per Work Instructions to achieve this.
- Assist with other maintenance and repair activities on an as instructed basis.
- Inspecting the workplace to identify and correct hazards and equipment failures
- Conducting and maintaining good housekeeping of fixed plant and work areas.
- Undertake as required condition monitoring, sampling, testing and other product an work quality control activities.
- Use of computerised maintenance systems (Pronto) including time confirmations, raising notifications and closing of work orders.
- Assist with shipping activities as instructed :
- Berthing and Warping of vessel including heaving lines and communicating with ship’s crew / line boat.
- Assist other departments within competency.
- Act as MGI‘s team leader liaison for contractor crews performing specific scopes of work within the crushing and ship loading areas within skill set.
- Minimum 2 years demonstrated recent and relevant experience in a similar position & mining processing plant.
- Mechanical fitting trade qualifications recognised within Western Australia.
- Current HR Driver’s license.
- Forklift Ticket – desirable.
- EWP – desirable.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to carry out instructions.
- Exposure to a computerised maintenance management system.
- Ability to work closely in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines and to meet specified target.
