Our Eastern Cluster operates 4 data centers across 4 separate locations, (Canberra, Silverwater, Brisbane, Unanderra) and we looking to recruit for a Critical Facilities Engineering Manager. The position will be to take ownership of all facets of the onsite facilities function including overseeing our site based engineering teams, collaborating with cross-functional teams and work closely to support the newly promoted Eastern Campus Senior Manager.
Great communication skills, the ability to identify risks and plan well ahead of time will all be extremely beneficial to all applications. Managing 3 supervisors and 12 engineers across 4 locations will bring challenges and the Manager will need to provide close onsite and remote support. Key to succss will be developing and supporting junior or developing engineers, whilst directing and harnessing the strengths and experience of our onsite engineering specialists.
The role will require someone with a strong technical, engineering mindset and experience and be matched by exceptional leadership and management of the Data Center. The manager will need to be financially and commercially aware and have a key understanding to assist with budget input and management. This role is available due to an internal promotion and we are looking to interview immediately for the position.
Key Responsibilities :
- Leadership : Direct management of IBX supervisors and engineering teams, ensuring 24 / 7 operational oversight and direction.
- Safety and Compliance : Promote a culture of safety, human error avoidance, and compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
- Operational Management : Oversee the performance and maintenance of critical facilities infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
- Strategic Planning : Provide strategic guidance to meet financial, service, and safety expectations. Forecast operational training needs and secure resources for training deployment.
- Collaboration : Work cross-functionally with other departments to support overall business objectives and customer satisfaction.
- Budget Management : Manage budgets effectively, ensuring cost-efficient operations and resource optimization.
- Change Control : Implement and oversee change control processes to ensure that all modifications to critical infrastructure are systematically reviewed, approved, and documented. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to minimize operational disruptions and maintain service continuity.
- Policy Compliance : Ensure compliance with all operations policies and procedures in a uniform and consistent manner across all sites. Regularly review and update protocols to align with industry standards and best practices.
- Incident Management : Develop and implement incident management protocols to swiftly address and resolve any operational disruptions. Coordinate with emergency response teams and stakeholders to ensure timely communication and effective resolution of incidents, minimizing impact on service delivery.
- Contractor and Contract Management : Oversee contractor performance and manage contracts to ensure service delivery meets Equinix's standards. Negotiate contract terms, monitor compliance, and manage relationships with external vendors and service providers
