Data Portfolio Head

Overview

The Data Program is one of our customer’s strategic programs established to deliver a business-wide data strategy and data transformation. You will work with internal and customer colleagues to shape strategic thinking, bring to life and deliver key projects that establish data and analytics capabilities across the customer’s business.

Your new role

Reporting to the Customer Delivery Manager, this is a leadership role within the Data Program to lead and deliver large-scale data and analytics project outcomes across all business units of the company.

The successful candidate will have proven expertise in leading data, analytics, digital or similar transformation projects and business change. They will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of one or more projects in the data program with a focus on time, cost, quality and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Project planning
• Supports the customer and project director in the development of a business case
• Determines the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion, with a focus on benefits
• Creates a detailed work plan in the PPM (Portfolio Planning Management) tool identifying activities needed to complete the project and its transition into BAU to deliver benefits
• Determines the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project
• Reviews the project schedule with senior management and others affected by project activities; revises the schedule as required
• Conducts impact assessments of project scope across Privacy, AML / CTF, Security, Data Governance, and Business Continuity Management
• Project implementation
• Ensures the project meets sponsor expectations regarding quality, budget, delivery timelines, and strategy
• Adheres to the customer’s project management methodology
• Oversees project execution and ensures all projects run according to the project plan
• Documents information in the PPM to ensure that project information is appropriately documented and secured
• Works effectively with project team members to execute the plan successfully
• Collaborates with external parties to ensure delivery of quality outcomes while building rapport and trust in dealings with the Fund
• Applies effective change management methodologies in the successful implementation of projects
• Monitors project progress and makes adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion
• Identifies, tracks, manages and mitigates risk on specific projects
• Reviews the quality of the work with the project team to ensure it meets project standards
• Project reporting and control
• Ensures projects are delivered within agreed cost parameters; changes to budgets, time and scope follow accepted change management processes
• Monitors and controls performance against planning; provides reports to Steering Committees, the PMO, Project Governance Panel, and Fund management as required
• Reports on project quality, sponsor and success metrics during portfolio reviews with Heads & Directors from the Customer
• Manages costs within project budgets
• Manages scope creep through change orders or phased delivery to meet timeline, scope, budget and strategy expectations
• Highlights issues promptly to management that may affect successful delivery
• When control is jeopardized, creates contingency plans with input from key team members and implements revised schedule, scope or budget
• Project communication
• Sets and manages project expectations
• Establishes a communication schedule to update stakeholders on progress
• Manages day-to-day sponsor and stakeholder interactions
• Uses sound judgment in project communications and keeps key stakeholders apprised in a timely manner
• Communicates progress, risks, expectations, timelines, milestones and other key metrics to sponsors and team members
• Assists and supports the development of project skills within the organization through advice and coaching
• Project evaluation
• Evaluates key deliverables and final product to ensure traceability of requirements, high quality and sponsor acceptance
• Undertakes post-implementation reviews and benefits realization exercises as required
